S&N Ep. 1 Releases 8/31
I hope that was an exciting post last week! I’ve said for a while now that I was planning on having Signal & Noise out by the end of the year. In short, the whole plan changed.
So, originally, the project that would become Signal & Noise (at the time referred to as “Into the DeeP”) was planned to be a six episode long web-series following GHPR as we tackled all sorts of investigations. We’d cover haunted houses, recent weird sightings, local paranormal hotspots and history, along with the occasional experimental episode. When we first started filming, we’d had an idea that was so exciting to us that it ended up being the first thing we were going to film. As these things sometimes go, that experience changed everything for us. The series had it’s name changed, we shifted to a more focused (almost narrative) style, with a single idea, one theme, fueling everything that was happening to us.
Eventually, I started to think (around the time I was putting the kickstarter together) that maybe this new, longer version of the series (it had ballooned up to eight episodes) might be a little too much, a little unwieldy, but I figured I’d stick with it and see where it took me.
I’ve only just now seen where it’s led us.
Signal & Noise is going to be a little different. All planned episodes are still releasing. There will be no cut episodes and no lost content. On August 31 of this year (probably in the afternoon or evening) the first episode of the series will be posted on YouTube. This will be episode one of Signal & Noise (currently titled “Flying Saucer…”; if you’re familiar with John Keel, hopefully the name of that last clip I posted makes more sense now). I intend to have a podcast episode posted sometime after that episode releases that’ll share all kinds of cool behind the scenes stuff and give you a chance to get to know the people in the episode a little better. Despite this, it might be second before you see episode two.
The general plan is that Signal & Noise will be a miniseries within a larger ongoing project. I’ve lost way too much time to this idea that I have to hold on to everything until it’s all ready, all at once, and all ready to go out one after the other. Until GHPR becomes a bigger operation, I’m going to release episodes sooner, basically as soon as filming is complete on them. So, as we move from investigation to investigation, you’ll be able to follow us in something like real time. I can’t promise that I’ll have every episode out as soon as we’ve closed a case, but it’ll be a much shorter wait than it was going to be.
As these investigations are added to YouTube, parts of Signal & Noise will be occasionally uploaded as I finish editing them. It’ll more than likely be a four part mini-series. Like I said, there will still be those other four episodes, I’m just not sure that they have too much to do with that overarching theme that’s in Signal & Noise so I’m not going to be releasing them as if they are.
Currently, the four core episodes are:
Episode One: “Flying Saucer…”
Episode Two: “Thoughtforms”
Episode Three: “We are…I Am”
Episode Four: “…to the Center of Your Mind”
The other, unrelated, four are (in no particular order):
“Readings for the Dead”
Unnamed Bigfoot Episode
Unnamed White Thang Episode
“Mindfuck in Backcountry”
The whole point of this new plan is that you’ll get content a lot sooner and, although it won’t be as regularly released as I’d like (I was hoping to treat the whole thing more like an actual TV series, all done at once, all releasing in a nice, orderly fashion), it’ll be a lot more organic and you’ll get a better look at what we’re doing as we’re doing it. Right now, as I work (for the first time, I should add) on making GHPR into what I’ve always wanted it to be, I need to be focusing on creating content and building a footprint. Word of mouth can only get you so far, you know?
After every episode of the web-series adds, an episode of the podcast will be added, too. It might not be an immediate upload, but it will always come fairly quickly. Eventually, this blog will be replaced by those podcast episodes. At that point, the blog will be used to share photos, written casefiles, transcripts, and the occasional piece of promotional material.
I think that’s about all I’ve got to share for now. Everything has changed so much from how it was when I set out just over a year ago to make GHPR into something more. I really can’t believe how much the project, and all of us at GHPR, has changed in such a short amount of time. I mean, when we started this whole thing, we were just filming on a cell phone (to be fair, we do still use the phone, but hey we know what we’re doing with it now). As time goes on, GHPR and the HSV Para Project are only going to get more incredible. I swear to you, someday you’ll be watching us on something bigger than YouTube. Anyways, I can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on and I hope you love it as much as we do!
Stay weird!
