A Taste

Friday again, and the last Friday in the month at that! I guess that means it’s about time for a little something extra — a bit of data, a bit of the show.

I’ve been sitting on a lot because of the show. Sometimes I doubt that I should be holding on to it all so tightly. I wonder if I should let more odds and ends out. I guess I’m afraid that if I show something too compelling (one of those odds or ends that’s ended up informing what the show is still becoming) you might not feel the need to stick around for the whole thing.

I’m trying to get over that.

This particular piece of data isn’t one of those odds or one of those ends. This is an EVP recorded on location March 13th, this year. We had just started our first EVP burst session (in which a series of short questions are asked and we review our recordings on the spot) for the night and, with one of our first questions, we get our only apparent EVP.

We’re, in this moment captured below, at Sam & Greg’s Pizzeria in downtown Huntsville, Al. The building they currently occupy is part of the Southside Square and a member of the nation’s registry of historic places. This building was part of the original commercial district of the city. It’s been many things in its long life. For a brief moment, we’ve become part of that story.

On the bottom floor of the restaurant, beneath a balcony that visitors claim is frequented by a shadowy apparition, sit a smattering of church pews. These pews, originating from some long-forgotten, now defunct church, find themselves reconfigured (in their long lives they’ve been many things) into booth-seats.

Standing next to these pews, I ask if our presence is disturbing anything nearby. I get a response, albeit one that I don’t understand. Listen to the EVP below and help me to translate it. Send your thoughts on the recording through the contact form (the “Got A Haunting?” button above will take you there) or through a message on Facebook. The most likely translation will make it’s way into the show and you will be credited (there’s also a good chance you’ll end up being sent any future indecipherable EVPs, if you don’t mind lending a hand every now and then).

Thanks for taking the time to listen to it, if you did. Before I go today I have two more things I need to say.

First, I hope you’ve noticed an additional post beyond my normal blog updates on our Facebook page. I’m making an effort to share more (and more frequently) so you’ll be seeing some extra stuff at least once a week from here on.

Secondly, if you aren’t a subscriber to my monthly emails, you definitely need to sign up! See, for a while now I’ve been slowly convincing myself that the schedule-focused current format of the monthly emails just isn’t doing it. Starting today I’ll be sharing data that I find too compelling to share freely (prior to the show’s release, that is). If you wanna see the coolest, craziest, most mind-bending stuff captured by Greater Huntsville Paranormal Research, the only place you can find it (for now) is in those monthly emails. For this first of the revamped emails, you’ll get a look at an Estes Session from the same night that the above EVP was recorded.

This Estes Session plays directly into the theme and focus of the show. This Estes Session birthed an entirely new, until now unplanned, additional episode. This Estes Session gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. Prior to this email, the only people who have seen this footage are the people who were in the room that night.

Subscribe before the end of the day and I’ll make sure you get that link. The email goes out at 8 p.m. CST.

Stay weird!

P.S.: Read that new Absolute Martian Manhunter comic that came out this week. It’s only two issues in and it really vibes with what we’re making for you guys.
